OLE
HENRIKSEN
How
did you choose the style and design for Face/Body?
"I
wanted to create a sanctuary for the spirit as well as the
body, a complete haven."
Ole Henriksen of Denmark was a landmark across the street
on Sunset Boulevard for almost 20 years. In 1998 Ole decided
he needed a "new look in a new space" and moved to the current
location. It is a jewel box of Zen design that breaks from
the clinical atmosphere in many spa establishments. "I wanted
something with a new look to reflect the changes in my clients
and their changing needs. Of course I still care for many
celebrities but I see a lot of professional women who want
a place to relax while they are here for a treatment."
The
use of muted lights, Indian slate floors, natural maple and
birch woods and earth-toned wall coverings all work together
to create a feeling of being in a sanctuary, which is quite
an accomplishment considering that Ole and his team of seven
aestheticians are among the most in-demand skin care professionals
in Los Angeles.
In the tranquil "quiet room" we discussed the change from
being primarily a facial salon to a full service spa. "I wanted
to create a sanctuary for the spirit as well as the body,
a complete haven. That is why the spa offers a complete range
of treatments. We have two wet rooms, two rooms for massage,
a room with a Japanese soaking tub, as well as nine facial
rooms."
