OLE
HENRIKSEN
He
is regularly referred to as "the facialist to the stars" -
and not without reason. Ole (pronounced OOO la) Henriksen
has a thick book of clippings that includes articles from
Vogue, Mademoiselle, Seventeen, Allure and a dozen other national
and international magazines, all featuring his famous devotees
- Minnie Driver, Naomi Campbell, and Diana Ross - to name
a few. When I finally met him, I couldn't help but remember
the quote from Oscar Wilde, "When a man is 50, he has the
face he deserves.Æ It will be another year before Ole reaches
that mark, but his face is positively radiant. His skin has
the glow of a man half his age and his looks may yet be the
best calling card for his Sunset Boulevard spa, Face/Body.
Although celebrity following would be (and is) the envy of
most other day spas, he is not a namedropper. He speaks gently
but authoritatively about health and beauty and about his
devotion to all his clients, some of whom have been coming
to him for most of their adult lives. For our interview, he
joined me in the spa's Zendo style quiet room. Within a few
minutes, I had to ask him, "Are you has happy as you look."
The instant smile answered my question before he said, "Well,
yes, of course I am." In our discussion, he gave no hint of
distraction about the bustle that was evident on a Friday
afternoon in one of the busiest spas in Los Angeles. He gave
me a "tour" of his life, his spa, and his passion for skin
care. Here are a few highlights.
